Join MAOHN member, Lucy Carlson RN, MPH/MS, COHN-S/CM in an informal conversation by conference call to discuss the American Board for Occupational Health Nurses Certification Options and Requirements.

Lucy Carlson serves on the board of the American Board for Occupational Health Nurses and through that role has a great knowledge about the ABOHN certifications and process for certification. She plans to discuss the differences in the certifications, the benefits of being a certified nurse, tips for preparing for the exam and also what it takes to serve on this national Board. Lucy has also been a member of the Minnesota Association of Occupational Health Nurses (MAOHN) for over 25 years!

MAOHN Fall Forum
Bloodborne Pathogens: Updates on Prevention, Testing, and Treatments

When: Wednesday October 17, 2018 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Presenters

  • Dr. Margaret Simpson, Infectious Disease, Hennepin Health System, will present on current practices with HIV prophylaxis and treatments. Dr Simpson has been an Infectious Disease staff at Hennepin Healthcare and established the HIV Clinic at the facility in the 1980's. Additionally she has been the Chair of the Infection Prevention Committee and continues to serve as the Medical Director of Employee Occupational Health and Wellness at the facility./li>
  • Brittany Rohrer, PharmD Hennepin Health System, will present on current testing practices and treatments for Hepatitis C. Brittney received her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at HealthEast St. John's Hospital and is currently completing a PGY-2 Ambulatory Care Pharmacy Residency at Hennepin Healthcare providing medication therapy management services at the downtown Internal Medicine Clinic and Healthcare for the Homeless Harbor Light Clinic.
  • Lynn Bahta, Immunization Clinical Consultant, Minnesota Department of Health, will present on guidelines for use of Heplisav B for Hepatitis B prevention. As a public health nurse she has worked in the immunization-related field for almost 20 years. Lynn provides guidance on everyday vaccine issues to colleagues within the health department, local public health and clinical partners.

  • The forum will take place at St. Francis Hospital Conference Center in Shakopee and will also be available as a webinar, broadcast via Skype. For those attending the forum in person, lunch ( soup and salad) will be served prior to the start of the presenters.
